What makes dogs so endlessly varied in shape, size, and temperament? These infographic posters trace 15,000 years of canine evolution, from multiple wild ancestors to the distinct breeds we know today. Through timelines and scientific insights, the panels unpack how selective breeding gave rise to specialised categories and the unique traits that form deep bonds between humans and dogs, explaining why, of all animals, dogs are truly lovesick for us.

While most believe dogs descended solely from wolves, Charles Darwin theorized that domesticated dogs had multiple origins. The evolution timeline illustrates how dogs diverged from jackals, fennec foxes, and wolves, explaining the striking contrast between human-height Great Danes and palm-sized Chihuahuas.
The second poster explores 'domestication syndrome,' where dogs developed traits unnecessary for survival but ideal for human appeal, such as an additional eyebrow muscle solely for creating puppy-dog eyes. I would argue that dogs are literally 'lovesick for humans,' having evolved specifically to form bonds with us.

Various formats were explored throughout the process such as maps, timelines, and graphs, alongside a distinctive pointed illustration style developed specifically for the dog characters. Both vertical and horizontal orientations were tested while curating information that is accessible to a general audience yet rich enough to surface unexpected insights through visual storytelling.
